Cotton candy, neon lights and bumper cars galore: May Ball was a trip down memory lane.
Is there anything more evocative of childhood summers than a carnival? The first taste of freedom for many of us was being dropped off at our town’s fair, meeting our friends to chase away the heat with rollercoasters and soft serve ice cream. Last weekend’s May Ball, organized by the student run charity Kate Kennedy Club, saw a rather more elegantly dressed crowd. But still the queue for the bumper cars stretched around the corner. Shrieks of delight could be heard anywhere in the venue over the sound of Cee Lo Green’s vocals and other “throwbacks”. My navy lace midi dress from Australian brand Love Triangle saw me through dancing, racing bumper cars and laughing with joy on the twist. I completed the look with Nine West’s classic pointy toed pumps and black ink Bobbi Brown long wear gel eyeliner and Sugar rosé on my lips. It was my last ball at St Andrews for the next year or so; I will be studying abroad and am so excited to document my year in Paris. Between dancing the night away and rediscovering my inner adrenaline junkie at the carnival rides, it was definitely a night to remember xx
