Is there anything more frustrating than staring at the shelves and racks of your closet, and knowing you’re wasting time but having no clue what to wear? Today I’m sharing some tips I use to create my outfits- with less stress and more chic!
Although I am all about committing to a fabulous piece and rocking it, I do have a practical side. So the very first thing I do when creating an outfit is check the weather app on my iphone. This most typically affects my footwear: rain and puddles galore- on go the boots, sunshine and a bit chilly- loafers are my go to. The last practical thing I consider is the day’s agenda- if I have a lot of classes, I aim for polished but not too formal whereas if I am going to see an exhibition, or something a bit more upscale, chic and glamour is the name of the game.
Ladies in order to make the most out of your outfit, the right lingerie is a must! Not just a factor when wearing tight trousers or a white sundress, the right underpinnings completely change how you feel in an outfit. I adore the prettiness of silk and lace so I was delighted when approached by Bootay Bag to try their subscription out. For 12 USD a month, they send you two über feminine panties; the perfect little confidence and style booster. The babes at Bootay Bag also made this customizable– mix it up, always thongs or no thongs, whatever your tastes/ wardrobe requires. I’m definitely a convert- my bag had a pretty sky blue thong and a classic lacy black cheeky to refresh my delicates drawer.
Moving beyond the essential underpinnings, I find it easiest to pick a color or pattern and then accent with neutrals. My lineup for fall has a lot of dusty rose/blush, navy, black, cream and gray. These colors are so flattering and mix really fell together. Patterns wise, tweed, polka dots and stripes are always classic and the first two are completely taking over the streets this season. You can’t finish an outfit without accessories. I like to keep mine simple yet sophisticated with my Olivia Burton watch and gold or silver minimalist pieces. On occasion I’ll dabble with statement jewelry, but I find for ease of accessorizing I say don’t fix what isn’t broken! Add a black or other neutral leather tote to carry all of the #bossbabe supplies and go onwards to a fabulous day. So here’s to no-stress dressing, slaying that outfit and a sassy bit of lace underneath!
