As the fall fashion season came to an end last week in Paris, I was scrolling through highlights from the shows and I had a thought- how can the normal woman’s wardrobe or wallet ever keep up?
So today I am distilling some of the hottest fall 2017 trends, runway and street style alike, and guiding my fellow fashionistas on how to update your outfits without breaking the bank or overfilling your closet! The first and perhaps most important advice I can give is to follow your style instincts. If you don’t fancy a particular trend, then you simply don’t have to wear it! I don’t particularly care for camouflage and so whenever there’s a resurgence in military style- I stick to combat boots, pea coats and decorated jackets. The second is that what goes around comes back around, so take a look at what is already in your wardrobe! This season’s prevalence for denim and leather is good opportunity to combine the staples with newer pieces to make them feel fresh. From Chloe to Gucci we’ve seen many brands revisiting bygone eras: this is the perfect time to raid your chic Grandma/Mom/Aunt’s closets or pop down to your nearest thrift shop. With the abundance of menswear inspired (see how I styled the trend here) blazers and boyish suiting this fall, borrowing from the men in your life may be in order too! When it comes to patterns, textures and colors of the moment- go for versatility. A monochrome or red polka dot blouse can feel darling when paired with a flirty skirt or cool when juxtaposed with edgy ripped jeans. To save time, money and fashion heartache try to go into seasonal shopping with a list of things you foresee wearing for years to come, like a camel cashmere jumper, which conveniently is one of many neutrals so popular right now. Then for a bit of fun, include a trend or two that may never see the light of day again (clear plastic shoes I’m looking at you). Good luck beauties, happy shopping and styling!

Style advice with which I can get on board! I’m not into most trends and prefer to skip them. Classic/recycled all the way, for me! 😉 lol

I’m so glad you enjoyed the post! Most of the trends I like tend to be variations on my everyday style so I completely understand.

Thrift stores are the perfect place to find vintage prints! Great minds think alike and I can’t help but feel they must be terribly uncomfortable and sweaty. Glad you enjoyed the post darling!
