21 Things to Celebrate in 21 Years

21 Things to Celebrate in 21 Years

21 Things to Celebrate in 21 Years

  1. Dessert for breakfast- whether ice cream, pie or cake is your indulgence of choice there is nothing so satisfying as being a grown ass adult woman and having dessert at 8am.

  1. Wanderlust- I’ve lived in 4 countries, 9 cities across the globe and my wandering feet haven’t lead me wrong yet, calling so many places home and meeting bright beautiful people along the way

  1. Bodies- in April I ran the Paris marathon, my legs carrying me 26.2 miles across the city, and while my ass, legs and feet were sore for a week, I bounced back pretty quickly. Our bodies are low key miracles.

  1. Car Dance Parties- driving along when an absolute banger of a tune comes on and singing loudly and off key with whoever is also in the car, complete with questionable dance moves.

  1. Poached Eggs On Avocado Toast- when the yolk is perfectly runny and it costs a tenner or less, you have achieved brunch nirvana.

  1. Post Night Out Debriefs- all gathered around the kitchen table, nursing teas or coffees with hair piled up on top of our heads in something resembling a bun, sporting dressing gowns & pajamas, howling with laughter over the shenanigans we got up to last night.

  1. Signature Shoes- the ones that you didn’t even have to break in, that suit all occasions and that you wear so often you’re honestly surprised they’ve not fused with your feet.

  1. Dogs- small dogs, big dogs, fluffy dogs, sausage dogs, silly dogs- we as humans don’t deserve them but I’m not the one who’s going to give them back

  1. A Gloriously Sunny Day- when it’s not too hot and there’s a steady breeze and absolutely no need to descend into the hellish mugginess of the London Underground

  1. Proper Dates-because you’re an adult woman and no longer tolerate faffing about or texts saying “U out 2nite?”

  1. A Belly Full of Carbs- whether pizza, pasta, or bread you name this is happiness

  1. The Best Compliment Ever- From a gay man at Union Square in NYC “Damn girl you look so fierce in that outfit, everything from the shoes to the dress says ‘I’m on my way to take over some poor suckers company’, werk it queen!”

  1. Family- blood & found that love & support every wonderful and ridiculous part of you.

  1. Millenial Pink- Coming full circle with pink, from loving it in every shade as a kid, to hating it indiscriminately during the I’m-too-cool-teenage phase and now adoring that perfect rosy, blush shade, so often found in acne scarfs (le sigh) and velvet chairs in trendy restaurants

  1. Haircuts- that whole new woman feeling, new ‘do bouncing with every step and blissed out from the sudsy head massage at the shampoo station.

  1. The Charity Shop Jackpot- that ruffled LBD I snagged for 7 pounds and that takes you perfectly from day to night, work to pleasure.

  1. A Ride or Die Beauty Product- that lipstick that always applies perfectly, mascara that never clumps, concealer that magics away any and all sins- when you’ve semi considered investing in the company just to make sure they never discontinue the product then you know.

  1. Moments You Feel Small- whether in the constant bustle of a city that never sleeps or in the wide-open spaces of nature that have existed long before and will continue long after, there’s something immensely comforting about insignificance.

  1. Moments You Feel Big- acing that test, getting the job offer, achieving a lifelong dream to become fluent in French, finding a creative outlet and a wonderful community of people to share your voice with. Those giddy moments where pure joy bubbles up inside, pouring out of a grin so wide it hurts.

  1. Friends- the kind that make you excited for the future, the kind that you’d drop everything for and vice versa. The ones that may involve marriage pacts if we’re both 35 and single, one of us getting the pool guy and the other the gardener.

  1. A Champagne Bubble Bath- that you can now legally have in any country you please, though you’ll stick to that American expat blogger life in Europe for the time being.

Xx
