New Year New Wardrobe New Me

The New Year is here and with it the final semester of my time at University. My dissertation looms along with job applications, and that great dread of Adult Life™. I may have no idea what city, let alone what country I will be living in this time next year, but I can curate my wardrobe! Aside from French literature, marketing and economic theory, the past four years taught me my style. I lean towards classic and feminine, with a fondness for a bit of embellishment and drama. I’ve taken on little pieces of each of the places I’ve lived in my clothing. New York’s cool tailoring and prep accents, Paris’s effortlessly chic ensembles, all black outfits and red lipstick, London’s intersection of old and new- trainers paired with dresses alongside trench coats and Chelsea boots, Scotland’s layered jumpers, denim and wellies.

Over the next year I plan to invest in my wardrobe, seeking out treasures and timeless pieces to round out my style. The trends I like the most are ones that reinvent classic elements. So far, I have my eye on fluffy coats, wrap dresses, tortoiseshell accents, velvet and everything camel. This year I’m hitting the ground running to take advantage of post-Christmas sales with Shopbop’s Sale starting January 2nd 7:30 EST. The Sale on Sale offers up to 75% off when you use the code HELLO2019 for an additional 25% off selected sale items. Neutrals and jewel tones with the odd blush, is my color palette for the winter season. High waisted trousers, the better to strut your stuff. This pair from Alice + Olivia in the most gorgeous blue BE STILL MY HEART. Lovely knits with a twist, like this camel ribbed sweater with cuffs from Edition10. Statement shoes make the best entrance, I’m lusting over these chanel-esque nude and black slingbacks from Steven or for a splurge these bougie jacquard mules from Alexandre Birman. HEAD OVER HEELS quite literally.

The Shopbop sale runs for three days and offers a variety of price points, so even on a student budget you can add something special to your closet. As much as I love a shopping outing, sometimes the best shopping foregoes the chic coat and booties in favor of silk pajamas, fuzzy slippers and all the comfort of your couch, am I right!? Extend that festive cheer into January by treating yourself for having gotten through the holidays without a camembert and mulled wine fueled meltdown. It’s the twelve days of Christmas, you know. I have visions of Theory’s draping, Diane Von Furstenberg patterns and See by Chloe’s bohemian touches dancing in my head.

Xx
